When I was in high school and college, I took several Chinese language courses. While I considered myself conversationally fluent, I knew that I still had a way to go because my Chinese was perfect. I was graduating from college soon, and at the advice of a friend, I looked into taking an internship abroad. As I have heard from many people, the best way students like me can learn and perfect a language is to be exposed to it, whether through tape recording, TV or speaking to someone who knows the language. I came to realize that spending time in China for an internship would be the perfect way to practice my Chinese. When I did further research, I found that there were many internship opportunities, including several that were in the field I wished to pursue when I returned home. I applied for the internship then I got my bags ready for China.
